Flight of an Angel
And so I say goodbye.
When time ties rude knots
On my wrists,
Gags my words,
And doesn’t let me hear your pain.
You were here
And I failed to see you.
All this while,
The slimy curtains of fickle laws
Hid the truth like they always do.
And now,
When your smell has just reached me,
The threat of 6000 air miles
And abruptly ended lives
Leaves a bitter taste in my mouth.
You and I have learned
How maddening it is
To burn day after day
In a mindless routine
Surrounded by laws that come alive
In every relaxed moment night after night,
And dance to their own horrid chants
Like stewards of an ancient cult.
The pyres of countless dreams
Hopes and simple wants
Shoot a black smoke
That stings my eyes.
I cannot see you.
You fade…
A late and worthless attempt I made,
With all my handicaps.
A whisper? Or was it my dream?
No..
The faint gold that shines on my pillow
Is as real as the tear-stain on my shirt.
Pathetic it was,
But we are beyond forgiveness
Between us.
And so I say goodbye.
Go,
With all my blessings and affection
And with love as you need.
Lessons in bravery are futile
When the war is within us,
And the enemy is Courage itself.
I cannot give you more,
For I have been robbed of free hands.
Remember,
That in hope is all life curled.
An ever-fertile womb it is,
And as long as we die
Untimely and useless deaths,
It will rekindle again and again.
Remember Hope,
And the blue of your eyes shall never grey.
For my part,
I will remember
The shadow that always confused me,
The warm sand that teased my bare back
That long summer night
Making me lose track
Of the face in the clouds,
And the angel that left dark-red bloodstains
On a dusty, neglected floor.
So I say goodbye .......

Hey,
thought-provoking and beautiful as ever... :)
funny, at the beginning, i thought it was about death. [angel, goodbye, the end, abruptly ended lives, pyres (of countless dreams), a black smoke, you fade]...
and then you write about hope being there until as long as we die...
Lessons in bravery are futile
When the war is within us,
And the enemy is Courage itself.
hmmm...
To win this war,
The enemy Courage needs to be embraced, not defeated.
And it is cannot be taught by others
But by ourselves... for the war is within us.
hmmmm... hope our friend and courage our foe? i can understand where you're coming from... (i think. this is just my random interpretation of your poem don't forget... haha)...
anyway, i still loved the poem... i could relate to it in a couple of different ways... firstly through the idea of death and secondly the idea of parting... with oneself, or with others, i do not know. maybe both. lol, you do not know how many different contexts i could use this poem in...
:-)
Dead words and insignificant songs...? Well hmmmmmmm...
Hmmmmmmmmm...
Hey,
don't know what to say !
Does 'goodbye' means giving up ?
No, that can't be.
If anyone can face the enemy than you !
